Plymouth has a reputation for Marine Engineering Research. Working with our dynamic University, Royal Navy and Government, I helped deliver the City Deal to Plymouth which will create up to 10,000 jobs. Within the South West employment is up by 121,000 since the last election meaning hard working people can get on in life and start building for the future. There have been over 5,200 new apprentiships since 2010, allowing even more young people to earn a salary and gain the skills needed in a workplace. I will strive to create even more jobs for local people, encouraging businesses to develop within the area.

To achieve this, I will continue to campaign for a Marine Energy Park to be built in Plymouth - attracting investment and jobs to the City. We need to work together to make sure that the Government and the local Labour Council realise that this is something that Plymouth needs to grow.
