Campaigns

Save the Hedgehog!

In November 2015 I launched a campaign to save our iconic hedgehog, which has declined by between 30-50% over the last 15 years.Following a debate that I held in the House of Commons in November, my campaign has attracted support from The Times, the Daily Mail and the Telegraph to get the Government to take action to save the hedgehog. In early February 2016, I hosted a Hedgehog Summit with the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, the People's Trust for Endangered Species and two Ministers from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Improve our roads

Over the last four years, I have campaigned to fix Plymouth's roads and blocked drains drains.I have continued to call for more money to be put into our roads. The Government recently announced that the Department of Transport will have given Plymouth City Council an extra £9.8 in highways funding by 2015.However, Plymouth City Council do not seem to have gotten their act together on this. Although they have made a start on sorting out Plymouth's potholes, there is much more to do.

Type 26 Frigates

I have always been a staunch advocate of our Armed Forces. As citizens of Plymouth, we must not forget that Plymouth’s glorious maritime history is, in no short measure, thanks to the Royal Navy. It is because of this that I want to really commemorate Plymouth’s relationship with the Royal Navy.
